"Happy" Mother's Day?

Updated: Jun 18, 2019

Happy to live the blessing of motherhood. That's why we have to decide to be "Happy" on this Mother's Day.

Today, here, in the US, it's Mother's Day, and I don't know why, but as years pass, I am happier and happier to celebrate it.

I was a created a woman: I thank God for it

Do you realize how blessed you are to be not only a creature, but also a woman, and not just a woman but a mother? What a grace, what a gift, how much trust has been placed in you and me!

I am sooooo happy to be a creature of God, not a created thing, not a mountain, not a tree, not an ant... but a creature. On top of that, I am a woman. A WOMAN. With my feminity, my intuition, my mystery. And as if that was not enough, I am also a mother. I almost can't believe I was given that grace. Me, Sylvie. So many reasons to be grateful to my Creator, God.

Despite ...

And it's not like everything is going smoothly on my side of planet earth. I mean, I can list so many reasons not to be happy:

  • I live in one of the most dangerous cities of the US.

  • I have a couple of wonderful, but "real" american teenagers in the house (whatever that means).

  • I work full time outside the house and pretend to "have a #balancedlife", when I know it's a myth (subject of another post), and in reality my work outside the house takes most of my time and energy.

  • My checking account is looking at me and asking: "What' you gonna do about me?"

  • And I can go on and on...

But I won't, I will not list all the reasons why I should not be happy, I will not go on and on on why I should be anxious, afraid of life, or angry at my circumstances.

I decided to be happy. I choose to be happy. I want to be happy. And I actually am.

To all of my sisters in motherhood, wherever you are in the world, I wish you a very Happy Mother's Day!
